The Ondeko-Gumi, comprised of individuals living in Canada, Japan, and the United States, is the first group living outside of Japan to be granted permission by the Kasuga Onigumi of Sado Island to practice and demonstrate the traditional festival “Ondeko” (demon drumming and dance). Presented in traditional costume and masks, Ondeko is performed for ritual purification and as a prayer for good health and an abundant harvest.

日本人、カナダ人とアメリカ人で構成される「鬼太鼓組」は、日本 国外初の、佐渡島の春日鬼組による許可を得た、日本の伝統的 な祭り「鬼太鼓」を披露するグループです。鬼踊りは健康と豊作を 祈るための伝統的な行事であり、厄除けの儀式とも見られていま す。鬼踊りは伝統的な衣装とお面で披露されます。
